The 4th season premiere of Six Feet Under last night was most satisfying. When I enjoy a great show like that, I’m constantly afraid that it will get ruined somehow, either by the network interfering, the creators themselves changing it because they’re worried about their audience or because the show lived past its originally intended run and they’re trying to keep it alive, or because I’ve changed enough that I just can’t enjoy it anymore. But after a year’s break (the 3rd season ended last June), Six Feet Under is still great. Thank goodness Keith & David still want each other, and are maturing enough that they just might be able to make it. Nate has to deal with the death of his wife, which I think will be an interesting journey this season – if he matures well enough, he just might be able to handle a real relationship. I want to see more of Brenda, but not the guy she seems to be about to start dating. Her “neighbor”. More like stalker! Brenda and Nate are both seriously in need of help, but that’s why they have to get back together! Because I want it! Anyway, and Rico just needs to mellow out. And stop thinking about prostitutes.

Can you tell I’m glad this show is back on? I love it so…

The second episode of the 4th season of Coupling was also on last night, on BBC America – a hilarious show. Not only is it “safely” risque, but they keep coming up with unique ways of telling the stories and moving the relationships along. For example, last night’s episode was almost all done in telephone conversations between the different characters. Sure, it’s a little gimmicky, but there was a reason for it that fit the show and the characters involved, so it worked very well. I miss the character of Jeff, but the new guy, Oliver, is a fitting replacement, who I hope remains an addition when Jeff returns (I don’t know he will, but it’s hinted at in the Episode Guide, and I hope he does…).
