Horns! And other analog loveliness. It’s Forest of the Echo Downs by Secret Frequency Crew, released on Schematic Records. An astounding, intriguing, unpredictable and fascinating album. Each track is unique. Seriously, this is a truly creative electronic release, with complex tones and inspired compositions. Buzzing insect synths, bouncing choirs, thundering horns… Must listen: Neon Bridge. But it’s all good, and different — take for example “Baron Of The Bog” which winds down the already comfortable tempo to a trippy underwater dirge, and then “Faen” which brings it up for a more traditional breakbeat stomper that nevertheless has the Crew’s distinguished touch all over it.
