Here’s a good essay (OK, he’s got a book coming out, but it’s still good) on the subject of applying general economic principles to specific developing country situations. I found it via BOP. I don’t have much to add to this other than that this is a good example of why many people don’t approve of the WTO and its policies. It’s not about anti-capitalism (I suppose for some it may be, but that shouldn’t detract from the main argument), it’s about poorly crafted, misguided policies that can really just hurt the people they’re supposed to help.
