Fusing Art Forms

This is pretty neat. This guy Dale Chihuly creates interesting glass pieces and they get shown in gardens at botanical gardens.

Saying it simply like that, I realize it’s nothing really special. Art has often had a place in gardens; who hasn’t heard of a sculpture garden? But it’s kind of unique to use botanical gardens or conservancies to show art, and his creations really do look like they belong there. There seems to be something special about the size and fragility of his glass forms. You can see a video about his work with some examples — click “high” (or “low” if you’re on a modem) under the third item, “Gardens and Glass.”

I love seeing art and science play off one another like this. Nature lends itself so well to both left and right brain activity.
