It's just frowned upon for some reason. And there's no areligious informal sort of event to mark the joining of two people - just weddings and receptions. And then divorce proceedings. People might last longer together if we didn't put so much weight on the idea that they're supposed to last forever in bliss. Next time I get married I'm just going to have the reception part of the equation. At a pub.
