Two For Today

It’s been a while since I shared any music. Almost a year. There’s no theme to this post, just that some good, random music came up this morning on the way in to work and I felt like sharing.

The first track, “City Sleeps” by Jimi Tenor, is both not his usual style while also being a good example of his style – because he’s versatile, and he does do these slower, ponderous songs sometimes. The lyrics were getting me this morning, as we shift back to times of rain rather than times of snow. And the sax… just fits so well.

Rainy night and day
and the city sleeps
I´m all awake
Rainy night and day
I am thinking
are you still awake?
Rainy night and day

The record plays on
And the tv
And the radio
I lie on my bed

The second one is completely different, a fun dance track by a 90′s electronic artist I never listened to until recently, Ken Ishii. He’s still making music but I was recommended his earlier music, and yea, this is a prime example of the “intelligent dance music” style from the early to mid 90s. Evocative of cybernetic novels and futures not to come, as dreamed by people 15-20 years ago. Why do I like this stuff?
